Steve Hovagimyan

Mr. Hovagimyan has spent more than 20 years assisting entrepreneurial companies devise and implement optimal organic and inorganic growth strategies. Before IA, Mr. Hovagimyan was CAO of Portware where he advised the CEO on strategic financing alternatives and related process requirements while helping structure the company to achieve 200% revenue growth and robust EBITDA margins. Prior to Portware, Mr. Hovagimyan was CFO at Andrew Davidson & Co where he arranged a creative venture debt financing that enabled the launch of Credit Default Model Products which now constitutes 50% of the firm's revenue. At Edison Venture Fund, Mr. Hovagimyan ran Edison’s well-regarded deal sourcing operation and worked on multiple investments including EdgeTrade (sold to Knight Capital, 2.5X, 36% IRR) and TetraData (sold to Follett Software, 2.5X, 46% IRR). Mr. Hovagimyan also initiated investments in Operative, eChalk, M5 Networks, Scivantage and Regent Education and advised Portfolio Companies. In the late 1990s, Mr. Hovagimyan worked at Instinet where he held multiple roles including helping establish the Strategic Investment Group through which the company completed multiple transactions. Mr. Hovagimyan led a $53M acquisition of LJR (subsequently acquired by BNY Convergex), a $25M investment in ARCA (subsequently acquired by NYSE) and a consortium purchase of virt-x exchange (subsequently acquired by SWX). He also worked on investments in WR Hambrecht and Starmine. Mr. Hovagimyan spent the early stages of his career earning his CPA at Coopers & Lybrand specializing in private company valuations. He then learned quantitative arbitrage and technology-enabled trading at Sierra Partners.

Mr. Hovagimyan earned dual majors in Accounting and Finance at Drexel University (B.S.) and dual majors in Finance and International Business at NYU’s Stern School of Business (M.B.A.). He has also taught several graduate and undergraduate finance and accounting courses.
